Project

Chacayes hydropower plant

This hydropower plant in the Cachapoal Valley in central Chile supplies the region with renewable energy by using the natural flow of the river to generate electricity continuously and in an environmentally friendly way. Since 2011, two powerful turbines with a total capacity of 111 MW have been generating around 560,457 MWh of clean electricity every year. The project thus makes a significant contribution to meeting Chile's growing energy needs, significantly reduces CO₂ emissions and at the same time supports the sustainable economic and social development of local communities. Innovative environmental measures were implemented during construction to minimize the impact on nature, for which the project has already received international recognition. In addition, the communities in the Alto Cachapoal Valley benefit directly from local support programs that improve the quality of life in the region. By using renewable energy, the project reduces dependence on fossil fuels, protects natural resources and thus actively promotes the spread of green technologies worldwide.
